In my opinion, the hotel is confortable, even do is old. Rooms, Elevatots (4)and panoramic views are good. The food is very good at the Restaurant with a great variety of Mexican dishes. Overall I'm pleased with my stay on this hotel.

After reading some of the reviews of the Avalon Excalibur I was a little worried about staying here. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The beach was clean, the staff was very nice and more than willing to help us with everything. The elevators are a bit slow but it was spring break and the hotel was quite busy. Still, I have no real complaints about the hotel. It met all of my expectations and accomodated all of my needs. If you are looking for a clean place to stay I would recommend this hotel. Not a 4 or 5 star but definitely 3 star. For what I wanted, it was perfect.

The Avalon Excalibur was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. I have been to Mexico 5 times and this was the first time where I was at a hotel where not one member of the staff spoke a word of English. Our room was not cleaned at all during are entire stay. The Concierge was very unhelpful and rude. The beach amnitities were very poor, there were never enough lounge chairs on the pool or on the beach, and the hotel security was lackluster. Beach Vendors were allowed to come up to you as you lounged on hotel property and harrassed you every five minutes. the Food and drinks at the hotel were inedible and highly over priced. If you want to have a miserable time in Acapulco stay at this hotel, if not their are much better options available.

The staff really made us feel welcome- the pool is great and the beach is amazing! The rooms were beautiful and clean and housekeeping got us anything we needed. There is a shopping mall and little shopping markets near by and there is food all along the strip. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone! oh and one additiont hey have that I have not seen in pictures is a kids pool castle playground area that is big and awesome~ we didn't play in it- but if I were a kid I would have loved it!!!

Wonderful hotel, but needs updating. Staff was excellent and right on the beach. Acapulco beach vendors are crazy!

rooms and bathrooms needs an upgrade. Pillows and beds were very hard. Swimming pool small. Caters to families with small kids. Hotel is located between two storm sewers. show dead rats coming out of storm sewers. Do not recommend to USA tourist. Lots of people with large families form ""vacations club"" mainly coming in from within Mexico.

Overall its a good hotel but it does need a remodelation. the elevators are a pain, its better to get the first levels and get the stairs. it does has a pool but its a small one. its the first hotel build in the costera so its kind of far away from all the clubs. the staff people are very friendly and will help with any kind of questions or problems. like around 80% of the people staying are families so there are lots of kids.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms was dirty(we had to be transferred to another room). The food was horrible!. The pool was dirty and over crowded, people was begging all the time. Go elsewhere for your money and time!!!.. Housekeeper was nice that was it!!. Don't go for a honeymoon!!

The check-in took 1 1/2 hours (it was spring break but that way to long) The lobby and the rest of the hotel really needed updated. Big rooms. The staff was very helpful. The price was OK but nothing great. Right on the beach and great views of the city and beach. Within walking distance of almost everything which was very nice. I would spend a little more next time to get something much nicer. Good but not great.

It was very inconvenient in many ways. There was ice only on the 11 and 17 floors there was no cups and you had to go to the front desk to get an ice bucket. You had to call for and iron and could only use it once before they came and picked it back up you could not keep it for the week you had to call down to the desk each time. The remote would not work for the Tv which also had to be checked out at the desk. The paint was coming off the bath tub and the floors were not clean. The walls were paper thin and the street side of the hotel was constant honking from cabs and traffic. The pool was nice but that was about the only thing. For some reason all of a sudden the room keys wouldn't work so you would have to go down and have them reprogram them. Service took forever. I would never stay there again. I would definately stay somewhere else. They also had no work out room.

We had a room overlooking the bay. It was beautiful to look out at all the water. We did quite a bit of walking to restaurants, malls, etc., and loved being close enough to do this, rather than having to take the taxis everywhere.

This hotel was very nice. Rooms were large and clean. The elevators break sometimes which can get annoying if your room is on one of the top floors or if the hotel is crowded. The beach and pool areas were both great. I didnt get the all inclusive option but I got the sense from the other guests that it wasnt worth it. You can order whatever drinks you want on the beach or in a store for cheap and the restaurants in the area are all good and cheap.

The Avalon was a nice hotel, but. Our room was clean, but could use some bettr furnishing. the 2 chaires were very uncomfortable. The lighing was terrible. It was impossible to read in the room. We asked for new light bulbs, but the maid service didn't seem to understand and it never happened. The mattresses were extremely hard...difficult to sleep on. It was a very noisy hotel. The walls are paper thin. We could hear every move from the room next door. The food was also very disappointing at the hotel. There was not enough variety for those of us who cannot and do not eat spicey hot mexican food. Everything was hot and hotter. We like mexican food but a milder tastye and more variety. The salds were great and the soups pretty good, but weak. Breakfast was the best meal....great omlets but you can't eat them every day. The drinks were good and plentiful. The 'common area' was very nice, attractive and clean. Furnishings could have been better. The pools were very nice and kept clean. The location on the beach was good, but the area was quite dirty, but then that is old Acapulco so I am told.

Wonderful! The location, amenities, etc. were excellent, we had a very lovely stay. My only criticism is that it took FOREVER to check in, the front desk service is VERY VERY slow...

Upgraded and got a corner unit w/wrap-around balcony, good ocean view. Seemed central to lots of stores, restaurants and bars. If you wanted a beach cabana you had to get your towel on a chair EARLY to hossie your spot! Enjoyed our stay, lots of activity in the area.

We stayed here from December 23rd 2006 to January 1 2007. We arrived late and were put in a room on the second floor on the street side. The hall was recently painted and still smelled from it. Standard painting for the building was to leave half on the floor next to the walls. The 1st room we stayed in, there were no knobs on the TV, it was noisy from street traffic, the room smelled of sewer and the water from the drain seaped onto the floor in the middle of the night. When I had to use the bathroom I stepped in bubbles and brought it back to the bed on my feet. Maintenence came twice before we were able to talk the manager into moving us to the 9th floor. Apparently the water from above causes the drains to overflow on the lower floors. The room upstairs was better. There was less traffic noise and although the towl holders were missing in the bathroom, it was better than the first room. The beach area was busy. We usually went down between 11 and 1 and were always able to get a seat by tipping the towl guys 20 pesos. When someone leaves, they put towels on the seats so that they can give them away to savy tippers. The beach area close to the hotel is roped off. If you sit close to the ropes or on the other side of the ropes you will be swarmed all day by vendors trying to sell you something. Savy hotel goers went to the nearby OXXO (like a 7-eleven) and purchased a cheap styrofoam cooler and filled it with less expensive drinks and food to consume on the beach. Both sides of the hotel have street drains which drain into the bay where people are swimming. One side was draining into the bay when we were there. The beach water adjacent to the hotel was not as clean as other parts of the bay. We often saw candy wrappers and other things floating in the water. The pool was small compared to other hotels and alot of people were using the pool area during our stay. There were three computers available for internet access at the hotel After using them, my email was inun

I honestly stayed in this hotel because of the rate, I knew the location was not exactly the best possible, but still I guess you get what you pay for... The TV didn't work, the furniture, bath and well the whole room itself is quite old and certainly needs maintenance.

The reason that I chose this hotel this time was because the service was great the first but this time the check in was not good.I had to wait 10 min. waiting at the counter with no one behind the counter. There was three times that I went there and had no service because there wasn`t anyone there. The first was great but the second was not and I`m not willing to try it again, sorry.
