Description:Built in 2002, this comfortable 3-storey hotel comprises 82 double rooms and 6 suites and offers guests access to 12,000 m2 of gardens. Ceiba del Mar is nicely located equidistant from Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Puerto Morelos, the closest town, is about a 15 minute walk down the beach and offers some nice authentic dining alternatives to the rather bland foof at Ceiba del Mar. I give the staff high marks for its attempt to create an elegant dining experience but te skill is not there in teh kitchen. I quite enjoyed my meals in Puerto Morelos much better. The hotel has a private beach and we were fortunate enough to be offered a free upgrade to a Master Suite which was right off the pool area with a view of the beach. The sfaff was very attentive and ready to please. If you're looking for a quite alternative to the noisy and busy Cancun scene, I highly recommend a stay at Ceiba del Mar.

Ceiba del Mar was perfect in every way. The resort itself is extremely private and romantic. If you want solitude and privacy in a secluded and beauitful environment this is for you! Hotel staff was extemely courteous and professional. There is some sea weed in the water in Puerto Moreles but beach area is kept clean. Butler closets provide coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and sweet roles in the morning.....I can't wait to return. The little village of Puerto Moreles is a pleasant 15 minute walk down the beach if you want local craft shops and restaurants...Playa del Carmen and Cancun are each about 20 minutes away if you want a day of shopping or a break from the solitude...

We travelled to Ceiba del Mar for our first wedding anniversary where we were picked up by hotel staff at the airport effortlessly, received champagne cocktails and cool cloths on arrival and were guided through the grounds to our suite. They arranged an amazing romantic dinner in a beach front palapa (just the 2 of us) and fresh flowers in the suite. We were constantly surprised at the little touches such as beach butlers making neck-roll pillows as soon as we arrived to the beach, fresh fruit kebabs brought to our lounge chairs and even a surprise bottle of aloe from the spa when they noticed how sunburned we were!! The beach is peaceful and the water is calm, although that does mean lots of seagrass. The hotel restaurants are expensive, but there is a great place called Tuna's only a 5 minute beach walk away! The grounds were always immaculate and the pool sparkling day and night. The spa is excellent, we had the Topnikte treatment in a suite together, which is one of the best massages either of us have ever had. Everyone recommends the Temazcal, however we found it more stressful than relaxing. Only consider the Temazcal if you don't mind LOTS of steam in the dark (pitch black dark)!! We definitely recommend Ceiba del Mar for peaceful romance and would return in a heartbeat!
