Resort was a nice 20 min drive from the airport - greeted with towels and champagne on arrival, check in was a breeze, room was ready 2 hours earlier than scheduled...great room, stayed on in the spa 3 area - a little walk from the beach and the restaurants...the room was nice and big, clean (we had a pool view on the 3rd floor, it was great, had a a nice view of the spa and pool area), although beds were a touch hard...interent access provided (although best to take your own ethernet cable to connect with. Restaurants were generally very good, nice choice from lobsters to steak etc...breakfast buffet was amazing, great choice and quality...the deserts in particular at all the restaurants were truly of gourmet quality - quite amazing...beach was fantastic although some seaweed to be seen on the beach and in water...nice big chairs and loungers on the beach, never too busy or crowded...drink service provided on the beach and by the side of the pools...nice! Entertainment was a little hit and miss (Aquatic show in the main pool area was so bad it was hilarious) although the cover band on Mondays and Fridays is awesome...amazing guitar player...all in all, a great place to go to if you want to get away from it all and chill out. would definately recommend to friends.

The Excellence Riviera Maya Cancun was a very beautiful hotel. The employees were very helpful and friendly. There were lots of amenities that you wouldn't get at other all inclusives. It was far away from things, which was what we wanted. The food could have been better, especially the steaks, but we found out they were from imported and that's why they weren't what we were used too. The trip is pricey and I believe it should have included the round trip transfers from the airport. We did have a very nice vacation though, and the hotel even gave us a special anniversary gift. All in all we were satisfied with the hotel.

The room was clean, comfortable and large with a nice view of the pool and the ocean. The ground were kept in great shape and the entertainment was good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I have been to Mexico twice before and got sick I think it was from the water but I don't know and this time I was fine. The food was also very good and we had great waiter service. This is an all adults motel what we like and I would recommend this place to anyone I meet.

My husband and I have vacationed in Mexico for the past 15 years, usually twice a year, and Excellence Riviera Cancun was one of our best vacation spots ever. The fact that there were no children for an entire week made it Heaven on Earth; no screaming, whining, running, or jumping kids. A week of quiet, relaxation, great food/alcohol, and adult interaction - priceless! The property appears to be fairly new, and very well-kept. It is quite large, so there was never any area that was crowded, and there were always plenty of palapas/shade. It does take a while to become familiar with the grounds, especially the guest rooms, since all 9 buildings are painted the same color. The pools are beautiful, and deep enough for swimming, but none deeper than 3 1/2 feet. One pool is Handicapped Accessible. The Lazy River is an especially quiet area, with only occasional New Age music from the Spa. It has a current, so drifting around the spa is an effortless, peaceful experience. The beach is groomed at least once a day, and has plenty of palapas, beds, and chairs. However, like all Mexican beaches, it is public property, and anyone from any of the neighboring hotels has access, so we did not really spend a lot of time there. There are 8 wonderful restaurants and 10 bars (most outdoors). The food and service were especially good at the breakfast buffet (in Barcelona), and for dinner at the French, Asian, Mexican, and Italian restaurants. The bars served top-shelf liquor when requested, and the drinks did not seem to be watered down. Although dress codes are published, we did not observe anyone being turned away from a restaurant for non-compliance. There is a well-equipped gym, as well as a jogging trail. There are gift shops and a Cigar Bar. Daytime and night time activities are listed on a daily bulletin that is delivered to your room the night before, as well as being posted in the pool areas. Each evening, there are a number of entertainment options. We did not use the Spa. I

The Excellence Riviera Cancun was a wonderful place for our honeymoon. We stayed in a junior suite room with a view of the spa. The room was spacious with a whirlpool tub and a huge shower. We had a great view of the spa and lazy river. The mini bar was restocked everyday with beer, pop, juices, and candy bars. The staff was wonderful. Anything we needed was taken care of. The food was excellent, especially the French (Chez Isabelle), Japanese (Spice), and Mexican (Agave) restaurants. We got great service at the bars as well. Moises at the swim-up bar and Carlos at the Cafe Kaffe were definately our favorite bartenders. The lazy river is a more quiet pool and the main pool has a little more activity going on. It is also only 15 minutes from the airport, so you are the first ones dropped off if you share transportation. We would definately recommend this resort to all of our friends.

The resort was amazing. Every inch of the resort was perfectly manicured. It was gorgeous everywhere you looked. The spa was excellent as was the dining. So many options! By far out numbers other all-inclusive resorts in terms of dining options. There was always a crowd at the swim up pool bar, but never too long. The other (6?) pools were less populated and allowed for more privacy & there was a waiter to provide drinks and snacks if need be. Nightlife was extremely sparse however; with the sun & drinks we were in bed by 10:30-11 then up at 7 for breakfast and the beach(and occasionally the gym). Very few cardio machines at the gym- kind of a disappointment- would have liked to work out more after all the yummy food. Oh and if you like guacamole you will looooove theirs- so good! Thinking about going back to that one or one of its sister resorts with friends in the future.

We just came home from our 2nd visit to Excellence Riviera. What a relaxing vacation! The pool is one of the most amazing things about this resort. It winds all around the property and offers many options. You can hang out with the livelier crowd by the swimup bar, Blue. If you are in the mood for something a little quieter, go lounge near the lazy river around the spa-you can even lie on one of the numerous wicker beds complete with pillows! The staff is great from the second you arrive. Everyone at the desk is very polite and pleasant. There are ample servers-your beverage will not go empty the entire trip, even out on the beach. The 8 restaurants provide variety and ensure that you never feel like you are crowded. Plus, room service is also included if you don't want to get out. If you are planning a rejuvenating vacation-this is the spot!

This was our 4th stay at ERC and we had a good time. However, in the past the service has been better, the rooms cleaner, and the maid staff more invested in our happiness- towel art, bubble filled tub on our anniversary. This was the first time we have noticed a definate need to tip, for example to have the mini bar filled per our request ( diet soda only ). The mosquitos were terrible the 2nd week, but no problem at all the 1st week. We never noticed the staff spraying for insects as they have done in the past. All that said, the resort is beautiful. Nothing was unacceptable and with a few well placed tips thkngs were fine. The rooms are comfortable. There is a lot of activity to choose from. There is a 50% chance we will return.

I loved the Excellence resort, the room was great, the food was good (nice variety) and the staff was wonderful. The place is filled with honeymooners and couples taking anniversary trips. The beach wasn't my favorite, but the pools were excellent. Try out the spa if you have the time. Overall it was a great experience.

Great facility! Food was outstanding with a ton of variety. The waitstaff was always attentive and extremely polite, and the rooms were spotless. We spent the entire time in the huge pools (we really liked the floating hammocks in the water)--Great place to take an afternoon nap. The only negative was that the ocean was a bit rocky and overgrown with washed-up seaweed...but the beach itself was fantastic! Absolutely no major complaints and would definitely recommend for anyone looking to have a relaxing escape.

This place is by far the best resort we have stayed at! The grounds were amazing, stepping out on every corner, you would find a pool! Make sure you wake up early if you want a prime seat in the pool area! Food was amazing. Barcelona for lunch was excellent! Toscana is the best food (Italian), second came the Lobster House. Room service was superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved the pools. the lazy river was salt water which was cool. Drinks were amazing. Alegria bar was fun! Hotel Check in was not a great experience, but everyone else was amazing! Love this place and would definately come back!

My husband and I wanted to get away to catch up again. The Excellence Riviera Maya was perfect. There are many very nice hotels that are cheaper in the area but this was truly 5 star service. If you want to treat yourself, this is the place to go. I would recommend the swim up suite. Ocean view not necessary b/c the pools offer a beautiful view at night.

This was a great place to rest and relax. The restaurants were very good. You could go to any restaurant that you wanted without having to sign up in advance like at other all inclusive resorts. You could go where and when you wanted. The Asian and the French restaurants were fabulous. We did not like the horse show on the beach during Caribbean night. Bordered on animal cruelty. Overall, we would go here again. Great not having kids around and full of grown adults. Don't bother upgrading to the rooms on the ground floor by the pools. A 2nd or 3rd story view of the pool area is much better.

Wehad a marvellous time at the Excellence...the suite was large, very clean, uopdated, and had everything you needed or could want...the maid service attendant was excellent. The only (very minor) thing was the room service....but then when on vacation it really doesn't matter that much... The food was well above the average and the staff (right from the front desk to the servers on the beach) were great... We would recommend this ....We would definitely go back if we are in the area...
