we stayed 4 days at the faro, marina view, all inclusive. try to get an ocean view. private beach was nice b/c there wasn't anyone trying to sell you anything. food was okay - they had a grill going so at least you saw it being cooked in front of you. kinda salty but overall, good. service and staff were wonderful and friendly. they don't offer any beach activities that they advertise and only one restaurant was avaliable throughout the whole stay. nighttime activities consisted of one man playing and singing. didn't see too many americans. with all-inclusive, only one type of beer and tequilla was offered. one pool table worked. they have wireless internet there. the room was huge - hard bed but didn't bother me. water pressure was good but the temperature wasn't consistant. great deal for the price. bargain for taxis or take a bus into town for 8 pesos. tours are avalible at the resort next door, the marina el cid, but nothing was offered to us at this hotel.

We loved The Faro! Everyone we met were very friendly, helpful, fun and gracious people. From the moment we arrived and couldn't find my passport to the day we relunctantly left we had a great time. The food was good, the service was wonderful and the evening entertainment was pure joy. The beach was beautiful and the sunsets awesome. Our rooms were clean, but need some upkeep due to the moisture. I think the beds are a little too hard for most people, but not me. The water pressure in the shower is not what we are used to in the USA. If you go to Mexico with a since of adventure, to taste another culture, and to meet the wonderful people you will not be disappointed at the Faro.

We spent the last week in Feb/07 at Faro. As some of the other reviews stated - could use updating however the rooms worked and were comfortable. Food was good, service was good. Nice pool and great Beach area. This resort has beautiful grounds and is clean. No real entertainment except for a couple nites of Kareoke. The resort is on a hill which avoids alot of street noise that others may have. I would definately go back.

Mazatlan was great, El Faro was great but a little run down. The private beach, all inclusive, and views were the best part. every review talked about the stairs not too bad really if your in good shape. The food was some good some so, so. Desserts were terrible. Fish was good, Tuna Avocado good, great quesadilla's. View was spectacular from the four floor and beautiful sunsets.
