I stayed at GR Solaris from August 1-4 2008. The stay was amazing, the entertainment staff do an excellent job of getting everyone involved. The room was very clean but the bed a a bit hard. Overall a wonderful vacation, I will definitely stay at this hotel next time I'm in Cancun.

The hotel was comfortable, the pools were great and they don't close to early. Drinks were good and there was not certain liquors only for premier/VIP guest. The location is great as well. The buffets have a nice variety, so I would rate these okay. The entertainment was good (magic show, live music in lounge). The hotel was not awesome, but it was overall a great hotel. I don't have any complaints. I would stay at the GR Solaris again!

My family and I had a great time here, service, beach, pool and rooms were great. Employee here are very friendly and helpful, the drinks were exceptional, the food could use some improvement but was crewable, hopefully they will get an outdoor grill for burgers and dogs. The hotel is beautiful and clean, the Adult pool is a plus, I didn't use it, but it was great for my Mother and Aunt. Can't wait for my Tequila Sunrise.

Our 1st visit to Cancun...We visited GR Solaris in May 2007 and it was awesome. The beach was huge and all staff was very friendly. HOWEVER...Recently, we visted GR solaris for the 2nd time and we went the 1st week of Sept. 08 and the beach is literally gone and there is huge rocks! My husband and I like to play beach volleyball and we weren't able. We also wanted to walk on the beach and really you can't! The hotel is nice. Some of the staff is nice, but not all. The food at Marco Polo was not worth making the guys wear long pants for and you must make reservations. We enjoyed the morning buffet. The entertainment staff is probably the best thing this Hotel has got going for them. They are awesome. Without them our stay would have been really boring. We won't be going back there because there isnt a big beach...and our definition of vacation is relaxing on the beach.

This was our first stay in cancun and it was a great experience. The front desk were very friendly and the staff was very very nice. The food was good at the restaurant where reservations were required but at the other restaurants they were a little greasy. The pool was very nice except for the last day it was a little dirty. If you are looking for a beach vacation this is not the hotel for you. There is limited beach front. The ocean was rough with countless stones on the bottom. The location of the hotel was ok and it was very quiet. Overall the vacation was good and the hotel was good.

This hotel was OK; borderlining on bad. About the only good thing I could say about this hotel is that it has a good pool, and if you want to sit around the pool all day and drink loads of alcohol, this is the place to do it. With that being said, the outdoor bar closes early and we were kicked out of the hot tub at 8:30pm! We moved over to the Adults Only pool (which stayed open until 10pm) only to find children swimming in the adults only pool area. Needless to say there was no consistency in the way the pool rules were enforced. The food was bad, service was not good (we ordered room service one morning and it never came), and there was not much in nightly entertainment besides some cheesy shows in the dinner timeframe. After 10pm, about the only thing to do is go to the main bar, and if you chose to dance, you had better be able to dance on a dance floor the size of a matchbox. My personal opinion is that if I am paying for an all-inclusive resort, the food and entertainment had better be excellent. From now on I will pay the extra money to make sure the food is very good, and the entertainment is abundant; otherwise, all-inclusive is not worth the money you spend.

I enjoyed this hotel, My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for a weekend! This hotel was what we expected, the staff was friendly, everything was clean and overall just a great experience! We didnt enjoy the food too much, but we both are picky eaters! Breakfast was the best meal of the day

The GR Solaris looks nice from the outside but the rooms need updating from the decor to the TV which makes an annoying constant humming sound that gets louder as you raise the volume. Our fist room had a door inside that connected it to the room next to us. The door was locked, but it allowed us to hear everything going on in the room next to us and vice versa. We switched rooms to one without an adjoining door and it was a lot quieter. I was also disappointed with the limited dining options and found the food sometimes looked good but didn't taste very good. I had a couple of decent meals but overall the food a let down. In fairness, we did not dine at the restaurant that required reservations due to time constraints so for all I know it could have been very good. The pool areas were nice. They had a more subdued area if you just wanted to relax and read and a more upbeat pool with a swim-up bar, music, and entertainment. The beach area was also very nice and you can swim at this location which is a plus. As far as the staff goes, they were nice enough, but I didn't find them to be the most helpful or accommodating as staffs that I have encountered at other resorts. The hotel does have wireless internet which is free if you bring your laptop I think, but to use the hotel computers you have to pay and I thought it was a little pricey. This is an all inclusive resort so the drinks are free but I think I had 10 pina coladas and didn't feel a think so I recommend adding in a few tequila shots here and there. If I go back to Cancun I think I'd like to try a different resort. I'm sure there are worse than the GR solaris, but I'm sure there must be better.

This was a great vacation spot. My friend and I travelled together (we're both in our mid/late 20's) and had a blast. The resort was filled with a healthy mix of people. There were younger couples, a few scattered singles and several families. Everyone we spoke to seemed to be having a great time also. The hotel staff was fantastic. I can't say enough about them. Every single staff member we interacted with was polite and helpful. They were very focused on making their quests comfortable/happy/have a great time! My only "complaint" would be that the walls of the rooms are a bit thin. You can hear your neighbors. This really didn't bother us that much though. Everything else about the stay was so great, we hardly noticed. Suggestion, eat at the Marco Polo. Food was great. Room service is also included 24hrs a day. We did take advantage of that a few times. There's nothing better than a great breakfast brought to you while you sit on the balcony watching the waves! I would highly recommend this hotel to any of my friends/family/coworkers.

This hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly. There were plenty of places to eat but we could not get a reservation for the Marco Polo resturant for two days so we did not get our steak or lobster dinner. The rooms were very nice but the beds were VERY HARD! The beach area is small but adequate. We lounged by the adult pool most often which was very nice. We did the all inclusive package which was the only way to go because you could eat and drink all day and night if you wish. The nightly shows were very entertaining.

While the G. R. Solaris has some great amenities such as a pool, gym, spa and free wifi, the Royal Solaris down the block seems like a much better value. The pool area for the Royal Solaris is much larger and has more features, and the restaurants seem to be open later. They are both part of the same chain owned by the Solaris Group, and down the block from each other. If you have a room at the Royal Solaris you can still go to the shows at the G.R. and vice versa. In fact some of the performers at the bar area just rotate around the hotels.

The rooms are large and if you don't mind spending little extra to upgrade the room please do so the view is great u can see the water from your bed. Its a 2 min bus ride to the town where it's HAPPENING. I would suggest Coco Bongo, Dadio's, Snr. Frog clubs. they have shows besides the dancing. Don't (lobster) or any other special event. From morning till 4 u have time to do so. Skydiving is bit scaryyyyyyyyyy. it gets windy out of nowhere and it realy shakes. Nobody got sick the food is great and in your room u have 4 bottles of water, soda's, and it's free. also the room service, and don't forget the deli for after hour people. u can come back to yr hotel and eat at the deli for free. Hang around the pool lots of activities they keep u very b.z. they also have quiet pool for quiet people. beach is xxxxxxxcelent. aqua color water and wht. sand.

Get the double ocean view on the 6th or 7th floor, great views north and south. This is a great place if you don't want to go shopping or clubbing, it is entirely too far. The food was just OK. Be sure to tip, or your service will be slow to nonexistent. The beech has seen better days, but it is fun. 3 pools, but the only one you can relax at is the adult pool. The other two pools are kid crazy with entirely too many activities. Bring your Ipod, no music at the adult pool. The reasons I would not recommend are: Night life consists of a hotel lobby bar, food was sub par, 30 minute bus ride to shopping or 45 minutes to bars. Spend a few extra bucks and stay further North.

The GR Solaris was lacked in size it made up for in cleanliness, food choices, and activities. We were welcomed by the front desk clerk and by a server who instantly took our drink orders, however we did have trouble with check-in. The hotel was very well kept and pretty. It has 3 pool areas (upper, lower, and an adult inclusive with jacuzzi). Every day the staff puts on activities for all to enjoy. If you didn't want to hang out by the pool, the beach was just a few steps away. I do have to say that the GR Solaris is not the only hotel in the area that is suffering from lack of beach. The storms, in recent years, have taken their toll, hopefully it will come back to it's pristine state in the future. Since GR is an all-inclusive resort there was a lot to choose from for food. Marco Polo (every night had a gourmet dinner to tempt the palette), Rosamarinus (lunch and dinner buffets with different theme nights), Cafe Solaris (the breakfast buffet was out of this world), and the deli and the poolside snack shack were available for those who wanted something on the go. You were never lacking in getting drinks and the maids and maintenance crew were exceptional. Our maid greeted us back to our room with wonderful towel art and even made a design out of our curtains, she was a gem! The shows at night were wonderful and for our last night at GR we were treated to a Mexican Show (dancers and Mariachi band) which included authentic Mexican cuisine. We had a wonderful time and we hope to be back in the future. Thank you GR Solaris!

The staff was very friendly, but they just don't get the little things that can make a trip better. There was a broken beer bottle on our balcony from the day we got there until the day we left. Also, we asked to have the beer removed from our refrigerator (twice) and have it replaced with soda and water and it never happened. Food was disappointing. For some reason this hotel ONLY provides one way transportation to all off site activities.Have been to Cancun before and this was NOT what we had hoped for.

GR Solaris in Cancun was just great, food for all inclusive was excellent. Marco Polo restaurant was fantastic. Service was excellent all through the hotel. Our room was great, had spectacular oceanview room for only a few dollars more per day. We are middle aged and went just to relax. The adult pool was perfect. I can't wait to go back. I know time-share is a big thing in Cancun, but our rep was just great no pushing, ask for her when you go. I would recommend this hotel for just about anyone, with or without children, lots to do for all.

I loved the all-inclusive part of the hotel. The food was good, the drinks were hearty and all of the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed the quiet pool area, I beautiful ocean side pool where you could lounge, read, drink, eat away from the activity of the main pools.

GR Solaris was nicer than expected. We stayed in an ocean view room with balcony and jacuzzi and felt that i was in one of the best rooms in the whole hotel. Not only was our view amazing, but we had so much room inside and out and everything looked great. The only thing I did not like was that there was hardly any hot water than would trickle out to fill the jacuzzi, but we made it work by filling it for an hour while we were out to dinner. I enjoyed the food there, especially the breakfast options, i love mexican hot chocolate! I didn't mind having buffet style food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but they do have options to make a reservation for fine dining service which was a nice change. We were not asked to see any timeshare presentations. All of the hotel staff... bartenders, dining, housekeeping, and even the pool guys were friendly and always willing to do what they could. I enjoyed the adults only pool because it was quieter but sucked when people claimed pool chairs. The beach in front of the hotel is small and the waves are rough in this part of the hotel strip so be careful of rip tides. I recommend staying in the hotel pool or taking the 65-cents local bus (which runs every 5 minutes 24 hours a day) to the local beach or Isla Mujeres. Overall, great stay, great price. I am so happy I stayed at this hotel.

This was our fourth time to this hotel and it was no different than the first time. We have never had a bad experience and loved every single trip. You first have to learn to deny the sales pitch for the time-share and you stay will be less stressfull. There is plenty to do for children and adults alike.
