Its a big hotel.Excelente Pool, oceanfront. The service was not very good, i think because Cancun is not the as in 90s. The city was empty... I recommend Melia !

Everything you would expect from a luxery hotel. Marble everywhere, flat screen T.V., and a very comfortable bed. We had a great view, and the staff was soooo friendly. You won't be disappointed when you stay at the Gran Malia, Cancun...

From the time of arrival to the time of departure, employees treated us with respect, gratitude, and most of all were very hospitable. Restaurants and the pool at this hotel exceeded our expectations. Scenery was very green and lush. I have no regrets about the Gran Melia. My only regret was having to leave Cancun. Since this was our first time in Cancun, any questions that we had, people went out of their way to help us. We will be returning in a couple of months. Next time, our time in Cancun will be longer.

The Gran Melia Hotel is a true Cancun treasure. It offers an upscale, international alternative to the Cancun Hotel scene. High marks all the way around.

Second stay here; this time in a Junior suite oceanfront. Gorgeous rooms, hotel architechture breath-taking; restaurant food 5 stars. Very expensive for room service, taxis, restaurants, drinks, sundries, etc. But if you can afford to splurge, you will not be disappointed. Convenient to on-site rental car, tour bookings, and fab water sports accross the street. Pools and grounds are perfect. The spa is world class. Staff is professional and accomodating. Go and enjoy.

I have stayed at this hotel once before and like it even though I prefer all inclusive. This time things went wrong. Rooms weren't ready on time of check in. We headed for the beach and in the first 10 minutes we were there a member of our party stepped on a medal spike in the ocean. It didn't go all the way through his foot but it really caused problems. The doctor at the hotel did do very well. The rest of our stay, we were very cautious when we walked on the beach and into the water. We dealt with that the rest of our trip. The beach is very rocky and almost totaly gone. We ate at the hotel a few times, very expensive. The best was just to order food when we were sitting around the pool, easy and quick. We had mold in our room, several places on the walls. Only about half the time we had hot water. Other than that the room was clean and nice. This was my second stay at the Gran Melia. I wouldn't give this hotel a third chance!

We went in the off season and it was largely empty. The rooms are very nice and clean and the staffers are friendly and helpful. It is right on the beach and the pools are fun. If you don't like to be bugged by the time share promotions you should turn them down firmly.

The hotel is beautiful. The room was nothing special and we were at the complete opposite end of the hotel from our friends. The next morning we asked to be moved to a ocean front and they were able to comply (still in the isolated tower though). That room was much nicer. We didn't visit the welcome desk. We found later that this was also the time share desk, so they called each morning at 9am to remind us to stop by for our welcome gift. Not too pleasant when you are out on the town late the night before! We were successful in avoiding the desk, but watched as they put the sales job on other guests. I would do the all inclusive for the meals as a plate of chicken nachos and 2 mai tais came to around $40!! We quickly signed up for the All Inclusive after that! Again, a beautiful hotel, VERY relaxing (meditation state with music and lighting), but be aware of the vacation club.

Having traveled to Cancun several times over the last 15 years and having to abandon our usual hotel of the Omni, we found this hotel to be the best. The interior spaces of the hotel were gorgeous and really accentuated the fact that of being on vacation in a tropical local. The room was fantastic and the price could not be beat. The beach was perfect for both sunbathing with plenty of chairs and palapas as well as being a great swimming beach. The service on the beach was great. The restaurants in the hotel were average. The location on the island is the best not too far from downtown, not to far from the airport but not on the busiest part. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

My girl friend and I stayed here two different times on our trip. It was a very nice hotel and the hotel staff was nice. The restaurants serve good food but expensive. The bus is right in front of the hotel so I highly recommend taking it into town to save a couple bucks plus you can find some great food there. My only complain came when I went to use the room phone, and found out it cost $6.50 to make one phone call. No complaints otherwise.

the gran melia was very comfortable, the room seeed much larger than most with a desk area and a table and two chairs. I liked the fact that the bathroom was separate from the vanity area and there was a sink with a long counter and there was adequate space for hanging clothes and they provided two suitcase stands. The location was very good -- it was really only one long block to Downtown Disney and there were restaurants very close.

This was our third time to Cancun. We have not had such a perfect stay as this time. The Gran Melia was beautiful and romantic. We have two children and will definitely take them on the next trip to stay at this hotel. There are many activities for children at the Gran Melia. Stay, you will not regret it.

The grand melia is a great hotel clean, comfortable and very curtious service. The only disappointing thing was there was no internet in our room. I never heard of a 5 star hotel w/o the internet in your room. I had to go to the cafe lobby to use the net.

I recently stayed at the Gran Melia Cancun and must say it is certainly one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in Cancun. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the view from hotel room is wonderful as well as the hotel main floor. In the early evenings they have live music in the main lobby floor of the hotel which ranges from classical to marengue music and ends no later the 11pm. We went in Febuary and weather was in 80's with plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas available . The two pools were clean and never crowded ! Resturants were a little high in price but food was excellent!!!, We ate in hotel 3 times and rest of week had dinner in town at different places, good choice to eat in town is Isla Mall about 10 spots to eat at and Kukucan mall both very reasonalble and aout 7 minutes away by bus which is 65 cent US, Cancun buses are constantly running and area very safe. Directly across the street from this hotel is a place called the shrimp bucket and a must visit if you enjoy shrimp and fish. The Gran Melia has one time share program which they try and get you to check out for 90 minutes if you choose to as we did you will get 100.00 to use at any restaurant in hotel and in addition discounts on any excursion you choose . we went on the Itza Chichen ancient ruin tour and had dinner at the tempo restaurant in hotel and very very good. Also if you take the 90 minute promotion tour which we declined membership no one bothers you again during your stay .Plants, vines and ponds with fish through out hotel very nice!!

This is a beautiful property. Clean. Attractive. The beach is fairly thin. The breakfasts there are good. We tried a couple different restaurants for lunch and they were absolutely terrible. On the chips and salsa at the bar, they use Cheeze Whiz. I watched the bartender pour Smirnof in my glass with cranberry. It was a fairly stiff pour, yet I couldn't taste the alcohol. My conclusion is that they water their name brand alcohol. If you're not planning on eating at the hotel (except for breakfast or for burgers and fries poolside, which are fine) you'll enjoy your experience there. Nice work out facility.

A/C not working well; shower head sprayed entire bathroom; bed linens not as nice and bathmat torn; balcony door locked behind you, trapping you on the balcony.

Regarding our trip to Cancun. As usual, we enjoyed the destination. While we have always been satisfied with the hotels we stayed at, this time our satisfaction is at an all time high. The Gran Melia is the most beautiful hotel we have stayed at. It is very clean and the service was excellent. Everybody we had contact with went out of their way to be helpful. If there is a complaint it is regarding the cost of food and drinks. These were pretty expensive. The quality, however was excellent. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
