I stayed there with my family and they treated us like their own family. My kids loved their Kids Club it was great for us since my wife and I had some romantic time for ourselves enjoying the great weather and the hot tub. We loved the food from simple burgers and fries for the kids to fancy gourmet dinner for us. I am a social drinker and this resort was great it catered to all my needs... My wife was given the royal treatment at the spa she loved to be pampered.... The staff was EXTRA friendly and gave us that special attention that we needed always friendly and with a smile..... The all did a great job... I will go back next year and recommend it to all my co-workers and family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome my kids added.

Hotel Hola was a great place to stay. The staff is, as most everyone says, very friendly and helpful. This was our first time traveling out of the country and it was definitely made better by having the staff that we did - they were so nice and happy to work with us and our awful Spanish (of course, they all spoke English, but when in Rome, eh?). All of our needs and requests were taken care of immediately, the food and drinks were very good for an all-inclusive and the rooms were amazing. Yes, you can tell this hotel is a little bit older, but they make up for it in the meticulous keeping of it. The rooms are incredibly clean and each room has an ocean view - beautiful!! It was so wonderful to be able to wake up and walk to our balcony and see this incredible view of the ocean and then look over to see Puerto Vallarta nestled against the mountains on the left. Amazing. Hotel Hola was great for us because we tended to go out and roam a lot, so I can say that if you are looking for a clean, nice room, the option of having an all-inclusive, and friendly staff - this is a great place. We didn't participate in any of the activities, nor did we even go in the pool (why when the beach is 50 feet past it?), so I can't vouch for those, but I can say that for us, this was a great, great place. The concierge is always nice, the staff is always willing to hail a cab for you and we got some great deals on snorkeling and canopy tours through the hotel. Another note about PV: Make sure that anytime you get into a cab you ask what the fare is BEFORE the cabbie starts driving. And if you try to speak Spanish to anyone they'll always be happy to try to speak back and help you with unfamiliar words. Most everyone speaks English, but it's always nice to try to talk to them in their native tongue.

We stayed here for a few nights, and it was great. About food: They have three different restaurants and a snack bar included in the all-inclusive. One of the restaurants, "Gourmet", requires same-day reservations but has absolutely amazing food. They have late-night snacks so you never have to go hungry :)About location: It's halfway between downtown and the airport. Vallarta has a lot of cool stuff going on downtown, during the day and night, and it's a 40 peso (~4 usd) taxi to downtown. You can walk along the beach the entire way to downtown and that should take about an hour. The beach at the actual resort has great sand, and lots of chairs to lie around in. The water's pretty choppy so don't expect to be able to swim way far out.About staff: The staff were all really friendly and of course spoke both English and Spanish. Never did we feel obligated to leave any tips on our free beverages and food, but we did in some situations (like the Gourmet restaurant we left a few bucks).I would go back to Hola, it was great! The only knock: wish it had a better name to tell to cab drivers :)

The pool tiles were coming out. A little boy stubbed his toe on one. The rooms didn't get made up until 3 pm. The restaurants, not all were open.

We go to Puerta Vallarta every year for the past 6 years. We love it there. We stay at different resorts each time and let me tell you we loved Hola. The people were great. Our room was great. We will go back there again. They are still updating Hola since it changed owers, but is still a great place for couples or families. Visit the bar and tell all the guys there we said hi we will miss them all. Cant wait to go again.

Plumbing leaking in many places, through the walls and pipes, they did change my room. Cable in and out mostly out. Did not work in one of our rooms four out seven nights. Food unacceptable, horrible on every level. Bar not many choices very low grade. First level rooms noise from clean up crew and the bar very loud if you want to sleep with doors open to listen to the ocean.

Even the hotel/resort/spa is older building, it is kept very clean and we can't get over the friendly and very helpful staff. The food was good and there was something different everyday. The snackbar on the beach has "american food" and the fancy Italian restaurant little bit fancier food,Villalinda lunch was very good everyday and there was plenty of food. Sunset restaurant is worth of it's name but also absolutely best place for breakfast with outstanding view. The price we paid made us feel like we hit jackpot in lottery. We absolutely recommend this hotel. It is nothing fancy but very comfortable place to spend few days and enjoy beautiful Puerto Vallarta.
