I was very pleased with the quality of the hotel. At times the front desk was understaffed but I really liked that they offered baggage storage, umbrellas, etc. And even though their ice machine was broken, they offered a solution.

The Holiday Inn Zocalo has an unbeatable location. Located in the city's majestic historic square, it is just a stone's throw away from coffee shops, restaunrants, museums, parks, and live Aztec-inspired entertainment on the streets. I just loved dining on the hotel's balcony overlooking the square and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Others might frown upon the hourly toll of church bells and the drumbeat of the Indians, especially if you happen to get a room close to the street, but to cultural aficionados like me, all this was wonderful music to my ears. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Zocalo twice. My first stay was superb. I got a spacious room with a jacuzzi. On my next stay, I got a claustrophobically smaller room with no jacuzzi. It all depends on availability. In both cases, though, the staff were always very courteous, helpful, and willing to provide for your needs-- including daily supplies of bottled water. One thing I cannot forget from my stay at the Hotel Zocalo is the fresh clean orange-flavored scent of their carpets and linens. The omelettes (a la carte) of the hotel's balcony restaurant are worth trying, but the buffet didn't look that appealing at all. Don't think the sweet breads that are served in a basket on each table are complimentary; they're not, I learned.

I was impressed immediately with the room. Modest but immaculate. When the wi-fi went down one evening, someone came immediately and fixed the problem within minutes. J L was especially helpful and very friendly. He was able to get tickets to a performance at the Bellas Artes at the last minute, even went to pick up the tickets. The rooftop restaurant had a breakfast buffet with a great variety of fresh fruit. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. My room overlooked Cinco de Mayo so there was no problem with noise in the evening. The only downside was the staff BEHIND the front desk. Had to deal with "attitude" constantly. The hotel needs to address this problem. Everyone else was great.

Rooms are rather narrow in this, otherwise, fantastically located hotel with a lovely view of main square and palace. Staff was helpful. Needed more computers in the free internet center.

When we got to our room it was tiny and the bed matched. I'm 5'5 and the bed was perfect for me alone but my 6'4 230lb husbands feet hung off the bed. When we called the front desk to change rooms. So my husband slept diagonally on the bed which made for very sleep less nights for both of us. When we went to dine on their roof top restaurant which over looks the Zocalo, there were no tables available to look out over the Zocalo. We saw a table with a reservation marker on it so we asked if we could make a reservation they said they didn't take reservations. We asked if they could call us in our room when a table became available they said no. We then asked if we could just wait for a table, again they said no. Although I was upset at the time, I have to now thank them because we found this really GREAT restaurant a few blocks away, Cafe Tacuba on Tacuba St. On our 2nd night the ice machine broke down. When we asked the front desk to send some up they told us that we could walk to 7 11 to buy some our selves. No one was really rude to us though, it was all smiles and a bunch of apologies and you can't beat the location. There are a million things to do right outside the hotel just cross the street in every direction. So just for a place to crash it was great.

This hotel was wonderful. It is located in an area where you can go out all day and always have something to do. The Zoocalo can get a little loud at night depending on what is going on but if you are in the right part you can look out you window and watch. The restuarant is magnificent. I ate the spegehtti alfredo and fettecuine alfredo both and they were the best meals I had ever had in my life no joke!! The chef salads are supposed to be great and basically the rest of the food too. All of the staff was nice, and everything was kept clean and resupplied. The bathtubs are a little old school but it all fit together to make an old nice country style. It is a very beautiful hotel on the inside, the beds are hard but that is Mexico for you and no air condition but on my thirteen day stay out of five hotels only the five star resort in Acapulco had air condition so that is normal. All in all I would go back just to have the spegehtti and fettecuine!!

This a beautiful hotel located half a block from the Zocalo. The personnel is wonderful and very helpful. They will do anything to meet your needs. They provide you with clean drinking water all the time. If you need anything in your room, they'll get it to you right away. Their restaurant has a great view of the Zocalo and very good food for affordable prices. The personnel very friendly as everybody else in the hotel. It is worth trying, its close to everything. Walking distance from Bellas Artes y la Alameda Central, el Zocalo, la Casa de los azulejos, Tenochtitlan, la Catedral, Palacio Nacional, etc. Very clean and with AC. It was a great choice for us.

Good hotel, not too expensive, with a good location, in the heart of the historic downtown. I only would like that they can fix the problem with the internet in the rooms; or at least add one more computer in the first floor so the guests can check their e-mails. They only have two for all the guests in the first floor. Other than that, the service is really good.

Yes its a Holiday Inn but really we had a wonderful stay here. The room was small with a double bed that had a firm matress, but I was able to get good sleep every night. The location cant be beat if you wanna be in Central/Downtown Mexico City, we were steps from the Zocalo and a metro stop. Many staffers at the hotel spoke English or they got someone who spoke English to help you. They gave to free bottles of water per day in the bathroom so you didnt have to run out for water to brush your teeth at night. If you are looking for a more quiet location though you might wanna check into a different part of the city. In the morning you heard whistles and honking horns, in the afternoon the organ grinders, and in the evening until about 10p the drummers on the Zocalo. We were on the 5th floor though and the noise was very minimal, I didnt even require earplugs.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. It has a perfect location being in Centro Historico and near the Zocalo and metro, markets and tours etc. From my room it is overlooking the Zocalo. The breakfast was the best omelette I have ever ate in my life, and the staff are really good even though their English is very bad. There is nothing they cannot help you with! The rooms are clean, the maids cleaned my room to a top, and I have free internet in my room with phone and cable, and A/C. Also I have a safe in my room. This hotel is really nice, and reasonably priced, compared to others in the area. Like others here say, the rooms are small to what we are accustomed to but it's okay there was enough room for my girlfriend and I! If you are traveling to Mexico City and want to be in the heart of the excitement, I would recommend that you consider staying at the Holiday Inn Zocalo!

Small property, very friendly staff. I am a single woman and felt very safe. The room was very recently renovated, fresh, clean, delightful. Dining room was very nice, shrimp overcooked. Stayed only one night.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were small but comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. The Zocalo Holiday is a good fit for any traveler that is comfortable or uncomfortable in Mexico City. Located right in the Zocolo, this hotel allows seasoned travelers to walk to popular destinations like the Zocalo or Bellas Artes. There are also tours available via the hotel which are very safe (Basilica de Guadalupe, Pyramids, etc.) and reasonable in price.

Chose the hotel because I wanted to be close to the historic center & close to the metro. These criteria were amply met. The hotel also has a great view of the Zocalo from its rooftop restaurant/bar. The concierge at the desk was very helpful in getting reservations for us at the restaurant of our choice. Rooms however are small but well maintained.
