The Illusion Hotel was wonderful. The rooms were spacious, the water and a/c worked well, the rooftop terrace was beautiful. There were only a few people in the hotel (due to hurricane season and a bad economy) and the front desk had my dinner delivered up to the rooftop terrace so I could watch the sunset. The food at the restaurant was very tasty and reasonably priced. The only problem I had was when I asked to check out late (at 2 p.m., rather than noon). They tried to charge me $20 extra to stay 2 more hours-- and there were only a handful of people in the hotel to start with! I was very disillusioned by that. However, overall, my experience was a very positive one. They are in the best location in Playa. Right next to a gorgeous beach. I'd recommend this hotel. Just make sure you get their policies stated up front!

Excellent location, less than one block from 5th towards the ocean. You can walk anywhere in less than 10 mins. The beach is less than 1 min! Nice size room, would be nice to have a few more drawers to put clothes for longer stays. We stayed 7 days & made it work. Small but useable balcony. Nice sized shower with plenty of HOT water! Continental breakfast is average or you can have eggs / omlette cooked to order pretty inexpensive. We did this a few days then found other breakfast options to change things up. Nice rooftop views, pool, & bar, we didn't really use this much though. No noise issues from the activities on 5th ave. Currently construction accross the street, but should be short lived & they didn't start too early. Overall very nice stay & would go back or recommend this hotel.

The Illusion Boutique hotel was a great find! You really cannot get better in Playa del Carment for the price and location. The hotel is just off the strip known as Avenida Quinta and literally a half block walk to the ocean. The rooms were clean with warm water, good pressure and a working air conditioner. There was a refrigerator and microwave which is great for bringing take out, water and cervezas home. Our bed was a bit on the firm side but that is the only complaint I have. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. We especially found Dorel and Javier great hosts who helped us.

What a find!!!! Especially for the price. Room was more than just comfortable and extremely clean. Staff was extremely helpful in selecting and arranging a tour plus recommendations for dinner. For women traveling alone, it was and 'felt' safe, especially considering the downtown location. I will return...and bring family & friends.

Illusion Boutique Hotel is located conveniently just off 5th Avenue and only a few steps from the beach, so you can enjoy both nightlife and the water in close proximity of each other. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Although the pool is a little small, the location, comfort and scenery make it a nice area. I would definitely stay there again.

Illusion Boutique hotel was just what we needed: clean, comfortable, perfect location and relatively inexpensive. Room was always clean. Contrary to other reviews, we could keep the power and air conditioning on 24/7. Hotel is in a perfect spot about 75 meters from the best beach and about 25 meters the other way from La Quinta, the main shopping/restaurant promenade. Loved the king-size bed and cable flat screen tv. The free continental breakfast was convenient. Good shower and toilet water pressure. We stayed on the top floor where the pool is. Pool is small and only 2 feet deep so no swimming but perfect for cooling off after laying out or chilling with a drink at their outdoor bar. (If you want to swim, you have the most beautiful beach in Mexico just down the street.) We stayed just before Hurricane Dean hit and the staff took good care to keep us informed. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to chill, then this is perfect.

Illusions Boutique is in an ideal location next to the main street with all the action and a few steps from the beach. Breakkfast very good for roughly 5$ a day. Rooms not very good looking however it is comfortable enough and you probably wont spend a lot of time in your room being that you are so close to all the activities. Great stay will be there again.

Excellent location. Perfect if you are planning no rental car. Nice staff and good breakfast. Rooms are clean but most don't have outside windows, they face the inside patio or hallways. A good place to enjoy Playa.

This hotel was perfect for us. There was a courtyard that served breakfast every morning, a pool bar at the roof for evening hanging out and it was 1/2 block from the beach.

My wife and I went on our honeymoon and had a wonderful stay. The highlight of the hotel was how friendly the staff was and how helpful they were. The hotel is right next to a beautiful beach and right in the heart of the 5th avenue shopping. The room was small but clean.

The Illusion Hotel is in a perfect location in the ciy of Playa Del Carmen. 1/2 block to one of the nicest sections of beach, 1/2 block the other way to the main street (5th avenue). 5th Avenue is full of restaurants and shops - enought to eat a different, great restarant every night. The hotel staff were great, and the hospitality team (breakfast/happy hour)were excellent as well. If we were going back to playa del carmen, we would go here again, no doubt.

The Illusions Boutique is located in the center of Playa del Carmen a few steps from the beach, fine dining, and shopping. The rooms are quite comfortable and very clean. There is limited space to store luggage and hang clothes. A newly installed elevator makes it easy to get your luggage to all floors. The view of the Caribbean and Cozumel from the top level is outstanding - especially at night. The pool is located on the same level - it is not large. A continental breakfast of coffee, juice and toast is included in the price - omelettes and fruit are available for a fee. If you like smoothies, crepes, pancakes, etc. there are many choices within walking distance. The staff is first class - very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

This hotel was exactly what we were looking for... good location, comfortable and secure and decently priced. The "pool" on the roof wasn't very big- but we weren't depending on it, so it didn't bother us. But this hotel excels on the essentials- the room was immaculate, the shower warm and good water pressure, and the bed was very comfortable. And the free continental breakfast was tasty. And it's set between the beach and 5th Avenue- can't ask for a better location.
