We loved our stay! I highly recommend a massage near the beach. The spa is amazing & the staff was the best! The only beer on site is... you guessed it, Corona. The beach is nice & very quiet, especially at night. Yes there is some sea-weed but it is the OCEAN. Expect it. The hotel puts on many entertainment functions that are actually pretty good (bands, performances, etc.) The rooms are great. We had a Junior Suite (smallest). The food was pretty good. They make the food at the the Marina out to be something very special as you can only go once per stay, but it wasn't anything spectacular. The two other restaurants are much better. The buffet has great food that changes daily. All in all the place is great. The only down side to this hotel is that they are too kid friendly... The dinning areas are extremely loud due to kids. Make sure you come prepared with our currency already exchanged as the front desk's currency exchange hours fluctuate and are never consistent.

I visited the all inclusive hotel along with two other friends. We had a perfect time. The staff, activities, food and spirits exceeded our expectation. Our room was magnificant and located at the heart of all the activity on the ground floor with quick access to pool, beach and bar. The platinum club was well worth the money. The resort is family oriented; we took a rather long taxi cab into Cancun for all late night fun. My only wish would be for it to have been closer to the resort. We are already planning another trip for next year!

We just returned from a week at the El Cid and had a great time with our kids. The rooms were spacious and clean - the beds were hard but you were so tired at the end of the day that didn't matter too much!! The food was good - I would definately say eat at Alcazar as often as possible - awesome food!!! The pool was big and the slide was a blast. The front desk was a little rude but everyone else from concierge to wait staff was awesome!! I would definately recommed this to any family - make sure to take the snorkeling trip and ask for "Crazy" Mario as your guide-he was great!!!!

we stayed here for 2 wks for our wedding/honeymoon. it was without a doubt picture perfect. everyone at the resort treated us like royalty from the moment we arrived. the resort is smaller more romantic and beautiful than most of the mega resorts out there. the food was great. the room was perfect. the view was dreamy. all in all it was better than i could have ever asked for. the entire wedding party is already planning our return visit. this is the perfect place to escape from the world and truly relax and enjoy yourself. thank to everyone at el cid who helped make my wedding perfect.

I went into this vacation a bit hesitant after reading some of the more negative reviews posted, but found that overall the Hotel Marina El Cid was a beautiful resort and a wonderful vacation value. I was travelling with my boyfriend and best friend and each of us had a great time. Not a party-focused location, but wonderfully relaxing. If you are going for the party, head to Cancun. If you want quiet tranquility, awesome service and a great pool, try the El Cid. We had pre-arranged our airport transfers with Olympus Tours through the website. The Olympus guides were easy to spot in the sea of people outside the Cancun airport. Our trip from the airport to the hotel was hampered by slowed traffic and was in a very cramped van (they always fill each and every seat. There were 8 adult passengers and 1 driver in a 9 person van. Luggage filled the back and was then stuck in where ever it would fit-between the seats, just inside the van doors, etc. A bit cramped for 50 per person). We were told to meet with an Olympus rep at the hotel to confirm our return transportation and set up tours, etc. The Olympus rep never showed at the hotel. In fact, I didn't see one all week. The hotel concierge called Olympus to set everything up for us. The El Cid is nice, but closes down restaurants if not at full capacity. They also have strange, but posted, rules about their reservation system-only one reservation can be made per day, at least 1 day in advance. Sometimes you'll make a reservation only to find that restaurant was the only one open and you didn't need one anyway. Also, SKIP THE TIMESHARE presentation! It's a 50,000 investment deal!!
