I just loved it!!! All the amenities(pool, spa, kids center, etc.)were on the highest level. The staff was alway there to make us feel special. It is a place for both family and couples. I would just recomend you stay at least a week to enjoy and be able to see everything. We stayed for only 2 day and it was not eunogh. I would love to go back next year.

We spent time at both the beach and the pools. There were always more than enough lounge chairs and palalpas. There always seemed to be a waiter or waitress coming around to take your drink orders. My favorite was X at the beach. He always greeted us with a smile and offered to get us drinks. On Wednesday, which was our last day at the resort, he asked if we liked Mexican music and we told him ?sure we do?. Five minutes later, here comes X walking down the beach with our drinks, shots of tequila and a 3-piece mariachi band behind him. They played and sang while we drank our shots and then broke out in a beer polka song. They gave us there hats for pictures with them and they continued to play during each of the pictures. This was a very nice surprise for us and really made our last day. If you are going to this resort, you will indeed need some type of footwear. We had rubber aqua socks. The coral and stones are sharp and you could get hurt. We did snorkel two of the days, but the water was pretty rough most days. The red flag was out during most of our trip. You could still go into the water and swim, just not out far. We brought rolls from the buffet and fed the fish in the ocean. The little kids really enjoyed watching the fish come flying out of the water after the food. We did the lazy river one day and people are correct, just wait a few minutes and there is always a tube available. We took a trip to Playa del Carmen one day. We walked out to the main highway.....

We had a good time! Since arrived late our room was really warm, and it took a few days to cool down. We do not suggest the Japanese restaurant, but do recommend the Cajucn and and order the salmon it was great. The bartenders at the pool by the lazy river are awsome, but the pool on the far east side by the ocean is quieter. We had a great time and will go back! The Gran Sirenis was a lot bigger than our last experience at the Aventura spa palace. Also go snorkeling at Xel ha it was great!

The Barcelo Riviera Maya All Inclusive Complex is huge. It is 5 hotels in one giant complex. I really enjoyed my stay but I was surprised to learn that the all inclusive isn't really all inclusive. I have been to many AI's before and this is the first one where I still needed to pay for certain foods and drinks. The resort has premium drink brands but some of the brands were not available unless you paid for it. Depending on which hotel you booked at, you received 3 free a la carte tickets for the restaurants that are only offered in your hotel. However, if you want to eat at the a la carte that is 2 hotels over, you needed to pay a charge of either 15 or 25USD depending on the restaurant. The resort also offered room service. I don't mind paying a fee and tipping the waiter to bring it to me but the resort charged 3.60USD for each item that is ordered. So if you order for a couple 2 burgers and 2 soups that will end up costing you 14.40USD not including a tip. What happened to all-inclusive? Besides the extra expenses, the resort was very well kept up and the staff were super friendly. The beach and pools were very nice. I would recommend the hotel to family and friends but I would just let them know beforehand that you will need to pay for certain things.

Barcelo Resort is actually a cluster of 5 large complexes. Barcelo Maya Palace is the top of the line at this site , then you have the Maya Tropical , Maya Colonial , Maya Caribe and the Maya Beach. I stayed at the Maya Caribe and had a wonderful time. Altough it is suppose to be the rainy season in August the weather was perfect all 7 days! For me the best thing about this place is the very large beach area that provides plenty of activities. The Hobie Cats were very fun for sailing around the inlets. The sea Kayaks were also a blast. The snorkling is fantastic. There are plenty of reefs , shallow and rocky areas and very deep channels with reefs lining the edges of these areas. There is also pure white sandy bottom areas to swim around for those who are not into exploring the vast swimming area in the perfectly blue ocean. Be aware that there were plenty of topless women at the beach area.. Never had any issues with lounge chairs at any time of the day at the beach or the 14 pools. The pool areas are awsome also. They have many kids areas with large water parks , fountains and activities. The buffet food was excellent at breakfast lunch and dinner. The drinks at the bar were just ok. They did not offer premium drinks such as Jack Daniels..this was an additional charge of 2 dollar per drink billed to you room should you choose a premium drink. Other than that the beer , rum and frozen drinks are everywhere and very available to you fro self serve or you could wait for the bar tender to make you a drink. The room in the Caribe was very nice and clean. The only problem was the bed was very hard! I will definatley go back to this place!

I found this place randomly right when it opened. My mom took me here for my 21st because I wanted a nice relaxing vacation. We booked this trip 3 days before we left, very very skeptical about where we were going. All i have to say is the BEST TIME EVER. I was so nervous arriving to this place because parts were still under construction and all the other resorts looked gorgeous. However, Grand Sirenis exceeded my expectations even during construction (which was not bad because it was outside of the resort anyways, adding on to a new part.) The place was GORGEOUS! so seculded and definitely a 5*.... My mom and I travel, and we have fallen in LOVE with this place. We actually extended our vacation because we didn't want to leave. If you are thinking about going on vacation.... GO HERE. You will absolutely love it. The pools are amazing, the swim up bar was fabulous, and I noticed if you tipped they kept you satisfied... The bungalows by the beach are perfect and there are beach parties during the day with tropical drinks and food. I was nervous about the entertainment, but the lounges are always full. One tends to have a little more younger crowd. Also, go to the shows... they are so good! I was actually in one, and pretended to be married to this guy who I had only known for 20 minutes... but it was so much fun. We are planning to bring the entire family back. And all i have to say is that 1 week is NOT enough.... 2 weeks... even 3 weeks. I would come back to the Grand Sirenis even if it was completely under construction, pouring down rain, and if i was the only person.

My overall experience in Barcelo is good, the reason I wouldnt say very good is because the location of our room (7540), yes, far from the theatre and no noise, thats good. But the view, interior dcor, the smelly bed and pillow, sandy sheet, were very disappointing. We didnt even thought of venture up the Palace, because we were warned that not to, and they will charge us if we use any of the Palace facility. We really dont want to have anyone to give us any hard time during our vacation, so we keep our feet out of the Palace. I would only give Barcelo Maya Tropical a rating of 3 of 5.

I regret to tell you this, but we were very dissatisfied with the hotel. For the price that we paid, we expected a lot more than this. The first night we reported that the air conditioning was not working fine and their response was that it was too hot outside, and the rest of the stay remained the same, the little fridge was not cooling also, and the bed was very uncomfortable to sleep, seemed very weared out.

This resort is huge! The grounds are beautiful and the entire resort is very nicely laid out. The buildings are all arranged with jungle between them with many, many trails wandering throught the property. I had a room on the ground floor. Beyond my patio was a grassy area with palm trees and other plants, and then, beyond that was jungle. I could not see the next building! Everything, the amenities, food, people, etc. was great. No complaints. The only thing that some may not like is the location.

The grounds of this hotel were absolutely beautiful. Location was great, close to pools & ocean. Patio was nice & room itself was adequate. Air conditioning was good, room cleaned & refrigerator stocked daily. Buffet got a little boring after a few days. Got all our ala cartes we chose. Japanese was by far the best. Desserts were somewhat laughable. Used the concierge to books tours. They were fine except my husband got sick through the night and wasn't able to go and he only got a partial refund. Beach was great & pool was quite warm. Drinks were better at the bars inside the hotels, only so-so at the pool bars. Lots of families, including those with older kids (late teens early 20's). Shopping on property was good & really not all that more than in Playa Del Carmen. Only saw 1 night show which was ok. It was a circus theme & I'm not crazy about circuses. Wish they would have had a luau or weekly cookout with band on beach. Would I recommend this hotels to other, YES.

The Hotel, Beach and pool are very nice and clean. The location is a little far from playa del carmen but very close to Tulum, xcaret and xe-hal. The only disappointment were the a la carte restaurants, the food was very basic and at times seemed to be the same as the buffet selection except we had servers. overall the hotel is nice we loved the lobby bar at the colonial hotel.

We were very happy with the hotel facilities and the staff but we were somewhat disappointed with the quality of meat both in the buffets and in the theme restaurants. It is a shame since we think food is very impotant to make for a good hotel stay and when our friends ask us about our stay in Barcelo we always end up criticizing the food although we loved the hotel.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Barcelo Tropical for a friend's wedding for 4 days. Both first-timers to this resort and Mexico. It was amazing. The property was very clean and staff very helpful We loved the open-air design of the resort and that everything was centrally located on the property. The food and drinks were great and we were able to eat at anytime during the day. It was nice to see there were snacks available at the different bars, as well as the Internet center. Many activities for couples and families. We will definitely recommend this resort to others!

It was one of the most beautiful beach experiences I've ever had. Swimming, snorkeling, sunning and sleeping, (and all inclusive), now that's a vacation! The Barcel Maya Palace was exquisite and the staff was perpetually "muy bueno" and most accommodating. The junior suite I stayed in was ground floor with a terrace that was a mere 50' from the main pool. Also the beach was less than 50 yards from my doorstep. There were also a lot of activities, decent buffets, and many, varied "specialty" restaurants throughout the complex I look forward to returning to the Palace in the near future. Highly Recommended!

The property is in a great location secluded from the city life. Plenty of space to move around. It offers Premium drinks like Johnny Walker, Don Julio, Absolut etc.., this is where the program fails they do not stock all these premium brands at all the bars where it is more popular to hang out. The regular drinks are ok but if your paying for premium service they should provided it everywhere or say they dont offer it everywhere. The program also offers express check out but depending on the incompetent staff they ask you to wait in line which is not what is detailed in the program. In reality the hotel is one of the best in the area but I feel the management and improperly trained staff sometimes make it a head ache. If you are not looking for above and beyond service then you will be satisfied because the value for the money is definetely there.

Checking in was easy. Our room was ready ans we were greeted with Rose Petals adorning the Duvet . One suggestion is to schedule your sit down restaurant meals right away. We checked in on a Sunday and could not get into the Japanese restaurant. The Mexican restaurant was just OK and the portions were small. Buffets were just mediocre and every night was a theme night Seafood, Asian etc. Drinks were weak and the premium whiskey was expensive. Our room was close to he pools and the ocean ands was beautiful! Some places on the beaches were rocky. I would not want to stay at the Palace for that reason. The Tropical and the Colonial are really the same place so you have about the same beach there. The beach that is most clear of rocks is down at the Beach Resort. But again that is just a matter of opinion. I would give a 3.5 out of 5 for this property.

Barcelo is a large resort and well landscaped. Rooms are clean and housekeepers do a great job. Staff do not understand English well and causes communication problems. Other resorts I have visited, this has been no problem. Booked dinner in restaurants twice and both times, the restaurant cancelled our reservation after we paid additional money. After eating buffets all the time, we were looking forward to eating in nice restaurant but forced to go back to buffet. We did eat at low end Steak house (Capt Morgans) and was very good. Buffets for dinner were great with a lot of variety. Pool lunch buffets were boring and quality not as well. Same stuff every day. Breakfast was OK and plenty of variety. Barcelo trolley was hard to get on because it was full all the time. This could cause problems for people going to other side of resort to eat. Plan ahead for Trolley delays. Things we did like-bottled water everywhere and fresh fruit. Pool drinks were not as good quality as drinks in bar area. Used less expensive liquor. Did not like Dive Company on property-they do not allow to charge scuba or snorkle trips to room. Entertainment at night seemed to be great quality. Nice thing about resort is that you can go to other hotels on Barcelo property and eat at their buffets and use their pool.

The Barcelo Maya Complex is extremely large, and the grounds quite beautiful. The room was very basic but clean and comfortable. The buffet was not good. Many choices of extremely bad food. The restaurants on the property were very good quality food and service, but with a 7 night stay, we were only allowed 2 restaurant reservations. We would stay here again.

This is a excellent all-inclusive hotel. The location is a little far from the airport but the stay was worth the extra travel. Food was abundant, but taste was fair. Rooms were adaquate for what were looking for ---Swim in the ocean, pools and eating.
