This hotel is located on the best part of the beach. Its right outside your door! The hotel is very chicly decorated w/ beautiful archetecture. Other reviewers have said the rooms smelled moldy. They do not! They smell like the floors, which are made of some kind of wood. My husband and I thought it smelled nice and earthy. The other complaint was that rooms are dark. Open your freaking windows! There are plenty of windows so that is not a problem. The beds are doubles and are so very cheap and uncomfortable. The pillows suck too. I was w/ my husband and we had 2 double beds that they pushed together for us. There is no queen or king size. They are hard and lumpy w/ only sheets and one thin blanket. The toilet is square and uncomfortable. You have to sit caddycorner on it.The doors to the bathroom are frosted glass and see through. There is no privacy. Every single morning when the sun first begins to shine the construction starts! You will not get any rest in this hotel. Now for the hote'ls restaurant. The food is good. The service is not good. They don't speak english very well and they nickel and dime you. We brought our own tea bags for breakfast and asked for hot water. It seemed like such an inconvenience to them and then they charged us 2.50 each for our own teas. They took it off when we complained. They charged us 5 for a basket of bread that was on the table when we sat down. They have a great lounge musician named Hector at night. The balck beds on the beach rock! This town is so cool! You are paying for atmosphere and location here, not comfort, customer service or ammenities.

In my opinion this was the place to stay. There were a couple of other resorts further down that were almost double the money but were a little out if the way. For what I see mexico as that is drinking on the beach all day and going to sleep this place was it. The beah food was probably the best food we ate in mexico. Drinks were served quick and courteous. If I go back that is where I will stay.

The best location in Playa. This was our fourth time staying at this hotel. The Beach club is wonderful. It is the best place to stay in Playa. Thanks to Noel the manager who always makes sure we have a great stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mosquito Beach hotel. The location is great, and the reason we chose it. It has it's own private beach, and is located right in downtown Playa Del Carmen. You can walk to everything. We never took a taxi. We liked the modern styling of the hotel. The king be was comfortable, and we had a balcony right on the pool with two lounges. It would be nice if they had better lighting especially in the bathroom, and more storgage would be nice as well (no drawers to unpaack into). Overall we had a great experience there, and would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Mosquito Beach for our honeymoon and could not have been happier. Our room was small, but well appointed. Our patio was steps from the beach. We found the service and employees to be quite helpful and friendly. The pool area was beautiful, but very under used, as most people prefer the beds that are put out on the beach for the guests. We saw some of the other larger hotels with tons of lounge chairs in a row on the beach and were thankful we were not part of the all inclusive herd. Overall, the hotel was extremely clean and super retro/modern/chic. I would definitely stay at the Mosquito Beach again. Their sister hotel, Mosquito Blue, was also beautiful but not on the beach. We would consider staying there as well.

It was really nice to walk out of our room and right into the outdoor bar/dining area on the beach. The room itself wa sparsely furnished. We could have used more space to unpack into (no dressers or anything with a drawer is available). Everything either had to hangup or fit on a 2'x2' shelf above the minibar in the closet or be placed on the 5'x2.5' table under the TV. The lighting in the room and bathroom is minimal and since the walls are all painted gray/black, the rooms are quite dark. It's a bit difficult to put on makeup since there are no mirrors except for the one over the bathroom sink. The bed was very comfortable but for a mattress pad they used something with a plastic backing which held the heat in and made us uncomfortable. Housekeeping did a very good job of not disturbing you and keeping the room clean and neat. They even noticed the light in the shower was out and replaced it without our having to say anything. The airconditioning unit (with remote) was surprisingly quiet and the plasma TV with remote was great. Once thing they could use is a guide to the services available at the hotel. You just have to find out for yourself or ask to find out what's available and if there is any additional costs associated (e.g., phone use).

They really ought to reconsider that color and the over the top tries for minimalism. Just paint the rooms a light color, add a light and make some ventilation options instead of AC. This is an architect making these comments... not coming from left field ; ) Other than that... the location I perfect, beach is steps away, and we had no probs except for the power being out our last day (the whole block, not hotels fault). We plan to stay at mosquito beach again next time to PDC.

Horrible service white sands room has no ocean view as stated staff lets anybody from other hotels use beach chairs for tips chairs very limited, sat next to children drinks TWICE as much as hotel next door Tried to put us in hotel off the beach first night, overbooked, no comp, they came up with a room at last min. but had to move next day. Most guest had to be shuffled. Small, dark rooms with little lighting. Very deceived. Website not correct, No down pillows Could not get extra blankets. Waiters on beach said and made inappropriate remarks and gestures to female guests.

We had stayed at this hotel in previous years. Then it was remodeled to the "new modern" look. It was a nice room, nice view, very dark inside, needed more lights. There was a mini bar which we never used and would have preferred a small refrigerator instead. Those who go to Mexico would like a few cervezas in the day and without a refrigerator made things rough, having to buy ice day after day trying to keep things cold. Otherwise, it was very nice, right on the beach. And, a flat plasma TV was very nice. All in all, it was a wonderful, warm week in Playa.

To start they moved us to another hotel the first day because the room we were supposed to be had a leak they didn't fix on time. Once in the hotel, we were woken up 2 mornings by the noise of repairs being conducted on the floor for the room above us, even when I requested to have the repairs done in another time they kept going.

The Mosquito Beach Hotel in Playa del Carmen, Mx. is a beautiful, small hotel situated right on the beach. The hotel is new, and very comfortable. The room we had was simply decorated in a modern design. Access to the beach was a short walk from our room, and truly wonderful. The hotel grounds are lovely, beautiful pool area, and wonderful tropical plantings. Througout, everything was maintained and very clean. The hotel staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The only food service was at the beach cafe. The food there was excellent, as was the service. The hours of operation were 7AM to 7PM. This was adequate, as only a short block away was La Quinta, the avenue that is the heart of all the action in Playa del Carmen. La Quinta and streets leading off of it provide a plethora of restaurants, clubs and shops that offer all and anything one might want. Mosquito Beach proved to be an excellent choice, excellent value and a truly lovely experience. I plan to return.
