The Pueblo Bonita Emerald Bay proved to be a terrific place to visit during the week of April 27-May 3. The room (a suite with a comfortable bedroom, a large sitting room/breakfast room, two baths and a balcony) was, if anything, more than we needed, at a price that would have been reasonable if we'd only had the bedroom and bath. The grounds are very pretty. The pool complex was very large, with a separate -- and apparently very quiet --adults only pool. The staff was consistently polite and very helpful. The food at the main restaurant was good, and the deli was a perfectly good place to order lunch or a light breakfast. Prices for prepared food were very reasonable. The weather was excellent; no rain or wind, with temperatures in the 80s during the day and comfortable for shorts and short sleeves in the evening. I didn't find the town of Mazatlan all that exciting, although we did have very nice (and surprisingly inexpensive) meals at Los Zerapes in the hotel area and Pedro & Lola's on the central square. Service at both of those restaurants was particularly good. We played golf at Estrella Del Mar. The course itself was a very nice resort course, well maintained and quite pretty. We reserved sets of clubs when we made our reservation to play; however, when we got to the course (at about 9:30), we were told that no complete sets were available. We ended up with rather mixed sets (a few irons from one set, a few more from another), which wasn't all that much of a problem. Estrella is a long way from Emerald Bay, but the trip and round made for a fun day, and we got back to Emerald Bay in time to hit the pool. Overall, I would certainly go back to Emerald Bay.

First off let me start by saying this was one of the most memorable trips our family has ever taken! This facility is absolutaly AMAZING! We have two kids, one 13, one 8. I spent many hours researching a fun, safe place I could take the family on vacation. We've been to Orlando, Vegas, all over the Gulf Coast and this was the BEST place of them all! Not one time did we feel like us or the kids were unsafe, in fact we would let the kids run down to the pool in the mornings while my wife and I drank coffee on the balcony! The staff at the entrance keeps track of every vehicle(including taxis) that enter their property and there are security guards everywhere, even on the beach in front of the resort 24 hrs a day. The staff was far superoir to ANY of the staff located at the fanciest of American resorts. These wonderful ladies and gentlemen would go far above and beyond the call of duty to ensure you have everything you need! We upgraded to a Master Suite for the extra bathroom which was nice! The pools are beautiful but we prefered the smaller one cause it was much quiter and less busy. The rooms were very nice and the view was gorgous! I could go on and on about how great this place is. I was most impressed with how friendly the entire staff was, especially with the kids. Not one time did anyone act annoyed because they were playing and having a good time. After talking with many different people I know for sure if you want somewhere to take the WHOLE family in Mazatlan, this is the place! NEVER SAW A SINGLE BUG ANYWHERE NEAR OUR ROOM!!!!!

It is on the bus line and gives you the flavor of Mexico especially in the lobby and bedrooms. The 1 bedroom with a living room and kitchen had 2 wonderful bathrooms. I would recommend this hotel for any kind of travel.

We have stayed @ other Pueblo Bonito resorts that have had more to offer in regards to restaurants, fitness center, resort sponsered activities. Overall it was a pleasant stay. We would of liked a balcony in our room with an outside grill. We had to pay for a VCR, seems to me for the price of the room this should be included.

The Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan has been very nice to stay at in the past but this time it was a mess. Our bathroom was too small and the toilet overflowed twice. There was a leak in the roof coming from the bathroom upstairs so every morning there was a puddle of water around the toilet and in the bathtub. The remote control to the tv was broken, the toaster and phone did not work and at night an odor coming through the air conditioning vents smelled like someone was cooking in our room-literally. Because our room had too many problems we were asked to move to a different room, which took up half of our day because we had to wait for a room to become available. All in all it was terrible.

My lady and I were very mucn in need of peace and serenity, and Pueblo Bonito more than fit the bill. The staff was excellent, and there were all kinds of places to go and things to do close by. We are already planing our return trip for next year and would think of staying no placae else other thatn Pueblo Bonito. Thank you for the week of rejuvenation and relaxation.

Our other family members had the executive suite which was the best-they had 3 patios next to the ocean and swim pool.

Arguably the nicest hotel grounds in Mazatlan and the quietest as the hotel is away from the road. Great location for hanging around the pool or a sunset beach-walk. Ocean here is cleaner than in the Golden Zone. Shuttle bus to town is convenient. Hotel restaurant is a decent value for what you get when ordering a la carte. Dinner buffets perhaps less of a value. The main negative thing about staying at Emerald Bay is the seemingly paper-thin walls. Ask for a quiet room (e.g. top floor room or a room on the end of a bldg.) when checking in. Generally older people stay here, along with a few families with kids. If you're looking for party-action, you're better off staying in the Golden Zone.

I have family in Mazatlan and been going there since I was a kid. I've been staying at the Pueblo Bonito hotel for a few years now. I actually just came back from there last week. All the rooms are suites and the staff is very nice. Haven't had any problems to this date...knock on wood. All the rooms have a beach view with a balcony which is great. Overall I like Pueblo Bonito compared to other hotels that are near or in The Golden Zone (La Zona Dorada). My only dislikes for this hotel are petty. For example, no complimentary bottled water...you have to pay for it. No free wireless internet...they have a place where you can use the internet, but you pay for the time. It's a little away from The Golden Zone, but not too far. Here's a hint for all you travelers. Never take the orginal offer when you get a taxi, Pulmonia (VW with canopy), Bronchitis (red pickup with canopy), etc...you can always talk them into deducting 10-30 pesos from their original offer for the ride. Sometimes it's better and way cheaper to take the green buses. They're air conditioned too. Those buses take you to the Golden Zone and even take you to Downtown Mazatlan. I've heard that Angelos, their Italian restaurant at the hotel is very good and has a nice romantic feel if you want to take someone special. This past trip I found out that you can rent jet skis, ride the banana boat, and do parasailing right in front of the hotel, which I had fun doing. Anyway, I recommend this hotel to anyone. It's not too pricey for what you get and plus you get a suite right on the beach.

We've stayed in Mazatlan 5-6 times in the last 12 years, and another 15-20 Mexico stays (Cancun, PV, Acapulco, etc.) during that period. We have stayed at hotels that are more beautiful than this one, and hotels that are less beautiful than this one, but until this hotel we had never seen a roach on the property. On the 3rd day of our 8-day anniversary stay, a very, very large roach almost crawled across my foot at the crowded pool area. Although my husband killed it, he had to request pool personnel to clean it up. They scooped up the body, but left the rest behind. Ewwww! I asked hotel staff to move us to the other Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan because I could not enjoy the pool, nor eat at the hotel restaurants/bars after the experience. They refused, saying that booking online excludes that kind of customer service. Another problem that was obvious from day we arrived was that the (limited) fitness center was closed from 11am - 1pm. Unless one wanted to get up early and rush to workout, it was unavailable until mid-afternoon. Mazatlan is beautiful and the weather is generally great, but choose a different hotel. (In 2004 we stayed at the other Pueblo Bonito at Emerald Bay, which is absolutely lovely, but FYI food and drinks are pricey.) If you're in the Zona Dorada check out Chili's Pepper for food and a view. It's hidden so you'll need to ask around. Also, La Casa Country is a great steakhouse, which we enjoyed thoroughly.

My wife and I stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay for three nights and four days. Our stay was wonderful. The facilities are exceptional and the staff is friendly and efficient. The amenities are second to none---the swimming pools are great, the rooms are comfortable and well maintained and the main restaurant is excellent. It is hard to determine if the beauty of the resort and beach were the best parts of our stay or if it was the friendly and courteous service that we received. All three were special. My wife and I enjoyed our stay to the point that we purchased a time share at the resort and we are anxious to return. It is without hesitation that I recommend the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay to all for a wonderful vacation Get Away.

We were at this hotel in February before Spring Break, and enjoyed a quiet, relaxing and romantic week. The rooms were cleaned daily, if you had a Do Not Disturb sign out they called later in the day asking when and if you would like your room cleaned. All the staff from maids, front desk, activity coordinators to the wait staff at all three restaurants were excellent. The pool waiters were very attentive and made sure you had what you needed but not pushy. The location was excellent, very clean beach-raked daily, crashing waves outside your room. We had a great view of the ocean and the grounds complete with flamingos. We would certainly stay there again.

My friend and I stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan 6/16-6/20/08. It looked to us like the tourist zone of Mazatlan and our hotel were probably in their heyday in the 70s-80s; however the hotel was very well maintained and clean and the staff were courteous and professional. All of the staff we encountered also had at least a basic command of English, and the majority spoke very good English. so communication was no problem. We went to the timeshare presentation at Emerald Bay, and though the property is bigger and newer, we preferred the Mazatlan because it was more intimate and within walking distance of the tourist zone (actually at one end of it) We would definitely stay at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan again. The view out of our room was a like a postcard. We looked out over one of the pools to the ocean. There are two big pools, a third private pool above the swim up bar, and a hot tub. All the pools were clean every day, and though the lounge chairs filled up there were usually some empty ones to be had throughout the day. My one complaint with the pool is not unique to Pueblo Bonito: I am tired of people putting kids with diapers in the pool. It is unsanitary and I wish that management would take a more active role in enforcing their rules regarding this issue and keeping kids in the kids pool (or at least away from the swim up bar). During our stay, the beach was not really a swimming beach, because there were problems with jellyfish. They were especially bad one day, and you could see them in the sand all along the beach. We talked to a couple people who got stung (very painful). We did brave going into the water a couple times, but I was too afraid of getting stung to really enjoy it. The beach is great for walking though. There are a few palapas on the beach, but they are usually occupied quickly. There are the usual vendors walking the beach, but they were not too pushy, so it was OK looking at what they had to offer and buying if you wanted to. There were

We have a time-share in Mazatlan, but wanted to see the new area where Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay is. It is alot further from the main action, but the hotel has alot of activities/amenities to keep couples & families happy while staying at Emerald Bay. You won't see alot of locals vacationing here. From the moment you walk in the lobby the scent of lavender greets you and you know this is alittle of the states mixed with the wonderful favor of Mexico. This American owned hotel is classy in everyway from the botanical gardens to the elegant pools, to the fun activites (yoga, pilates, wine & cheese tasting, to name a few.) Time share presentations are very low pressure, which we really appreciated! I found the restarant alittle noisy, but all in all, we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are great. We stayed in the Master suite, but viewed the Junior Suite also. They are both nice. The main beach in front of the hotel is alittle rocky and they suggest you swim alittle further away. There wasn't the ocean swimming at this hotel by people like on the main drag where the ocean is very popular day & night with the hotel guests. But the plus side of this is you will not be pested by local vendors that can really be a annoying on the main beach. We were very happy with our stay at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay, and would return.

The property was immaculate and the room was spacious. We had an awesome view of the water, island and every sunset. The staff were very good about assisting with any request immediately. The staff all seem to work together diligently to keep the property beautiful. The health club was clean, had bottled water, towels and full weights and several weight machines. It was two levels with 3 bikes and 2 treadmills and a couple of other things. TVs by this area. No day spa on-site. Massages were available in the health club. But you can take the free shuttle to the Emerald Bay property for full spa activities. The daily breakfast buffet was very complete. But, it seems everyone likes the Sunday Champagne brunch so plan for a possible wait on Sunday if you arrive at t peak time. It was cost effective.Guests of the hotel got a 10% discount card off meals at the hotel restaurants. Brochures and maps from the hotel concierge provides additoinal discount cards at other restaurants. The window seats in the waterside restaurant are terrific to watch the surf while dining. The hotel is right on several bus lines and can take you to downtown Mazatlan for 6 or 8 pesos each depending if you use a green (recommended) or white bus (fine if you're more adventurous). Good thick poolside towels. Although signs are posted to not save chairs for family, people seem to do that anyway, so get there early. We were just two on our anniversary and it was a great place to go, but I would have prefered a king size instead of two doubles in our room. We never asked to change this.Highly recommended!

So pleansantly surprised! We enjoyed a great room with a wonderful view of the ocean and second (smaller) pool. Top floor. Housekeeping was very nice. they worked with us when unexpectantly both of us came down with a bout of montezuma revenge. Housekeeping providing extra towels, sheets, and came only to clean when asked to do so. The sickness was not a part of the Pueblo Bonito hotel.

We were very pleased with our accommodations. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was right down town Mazatlan so we were within walking distance to most places. We had a great time.

These are the features that I liked. The location was good because of the convenience to the busses. Their were several convenient facilities near-by. These include laundry, restaurants churches. The beds were comfortable. Hot water was always available for showers. The in room cooking facilities were good. The arrangements for reserving a cabane (palapa) were good. Some prices seemed high. They include the internet. We went outside and paid 1/2 of the hotel price. Phone card connection charges were excessive. Angeles restaurant had great atmosphere.
