The rooms must have just been remodeled with very large, nicely tiled bathrooms. Balconies on every room are nice. Liquor dispensors in room included with price if you really want to get crazy. The beach is excellent, clean with plenty of chairs. Food was good, better than I expected and much better than the last all-inclusive I was at. Perhaps most impressive was the staff (including bartenders--muy importante!), always willing to please the guests. Only drawback is distance from downtown--about an hour busride (just a couple bucks each way) or half hour cab ride (we split one with another couple for 10 bucks per couple--recommended). But downtown wasn't that impressive anyway, so if you're satisfied with plentiful food and drinks at the resort and a nice beach location then this is for you! Went with my girlfriend so not sure what kind of luck singles can expect finding other singles, but a nice mix of young and old people were there. Cool day trips around the bay available if you get bored for extra but we're sorta broke so didn't try any. The location is absolutely beautiful! Safes in room so we didn't worry about theft.

Brief review of a great vacation. However you may want to pick a different resort to stay at rather than the RUI Jalisco. Room: Bed is a dirty 3 inch mattress/with small box hard rock. Our king size bed was 2 twin beds put togethor. Curtains nasty with stains, old outdated and really ruined the rooms apperance. Shower good. Balcony good. Corners of room, ceiling, floor all had stains. Needs renovation. Rooms use actual keys rather than magnetic cards. Had many problems getting locked out or locked in room. After 4 times calling maitance and over an hour total waiting they finally changed my lock. I was actually locked in my room. Staff is good but staff leader is rude. Hotel was packed and I asked a question to her at the desk and she rudely remarked to me that "I dont want to hear any more complaints from anyone today about the kids in the pool." She was sweating and stressed. Pool bar had 10 years old on barstools than adults. Never been talked to so rude by a hotel leader. However many good times at pool. Beach is excellent. We had a blast! Resturants are Golden Coral or Shoneys quality buffets. The one Brazilain resturant actually serves you at the table and is great. Breakfast was my favorite. We did have many fun times. Drank a lot!! Laughed/ smiled so much and able to relax. You would probably like it just dont expect luxury or a perfect staff. Comparable to Days Inn hotel w/ many palms with Golden Coral buffets -a lot more beautiful. Liked Peurto Vallarta!

Our family really enjoyed our time. Nice relaxing and fun. The food was very good and the buffets were huge. The staff was all very courteous and helpful. The only negative was the liquor stock was very cheap liquor and beer for this price. We found this hotel comparable to the Marival, where we stayed last year.

This was my 4th trip to Mexico and my second to Puerto Vallarta. The room we were placed in was located very close to elevator and was probably the loudest room I have ever stayed in. The rooms are set back off the hallway, but that did nothing to keep the noise out. We heard every person traveling up and down the hallway at all hours of the day and night, including the bell boys bringing luggage of late-night arrivals down the marble hallways. Headed out to pool about 9:30 on first morning to discover that nearly all lounge chairs were covered with towls from travelers who had arisen as early as 6:00 a.m. to "stake their claim" on a chair. Nearly all the remaining chairs were in the shade until after 12:00 p.m because of the location of the landscaping trees. If your intention is to spend some quality time at the pool getting a tan, it is necessary to arise by 7:00 a.m. to secure a chair. Also, adults-only pool is a misnomer to say the least. Ours was full of children from diaper-age on up, while the children's pool was nearly empty. When I asked a staff member to make an announcement to the parents to kindlly remind them that the children were to be at the children's pool, I was told that there was nothing they were planning to do about it and I would have to learn to live with it. I believe his exact words were "It's not my problem, it's yours. I'm not going to do anything about it." Hotel was very clean, but otherwise, a complete disappointment.

We just returned from a Spring Break trip with our high school senior and a group from the high school. This was a great setting for the group; the grounds are beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the beach is very nice (safe, good for walking and water sports), the pools are great and good night life. There is plenty to do from early morning until late into the night. My major complaint is that the rooms were not very clean nor updated and the beds are unbearably hard. The first night was the worst sleep I have ever had in a hotel. I would defiantly not return to this hotel until they upgraded the beds (unless you like sleeping on a rock hard surface covered by a ratty sheet that is probably 15 years old). The hotel is far from the main downtown so that is not very convenient. The food was ok (I had some very good prime rib) but other things like the ?steakhouse? were a disappointment. The food was the same everyday so the longer your stay the more tiresome the menu becomes. The open air hallways are very noisy so depending on the crowd and how busy the hotel is don?t expect any piece and quiet during the night. Overall, with modest expectations if you are looking for a nice setting and all you can drink this is your spot. I would not recommend it for a quite couple getaway.
